Lauryn Hill Fans Unload After 40-Minute Show, Lame Apology

The musician says she'll make it up to fans after being 2 hours late for an Atlanta concert.

ATLANTA, GA -- Musician Lauryn Hill has been catching a lot of heat on social media after she showed up two hours late for a Friday night Atlanta concert and then performed for less than 40 minutes.

On Sunday, the performer -- who, according to EW, is known for her tardiness -- said she will make it up to fans, though she doesn't say how.

The concert was held at Atlanta's Chastain Park outdoor amphitheater, which has an 11 pm noise curfew. The show had been scheduled to begin at 8 pm, but Hill showed up at 10:20 pm. Her microphone was cut off promptly at 11 pm.

Hill, who began her career with the Fugees in the 90s and then went solo artist, said, “The challenge is aligning my energy with the time, taking something that isn’t easily classified or contained, and trying to make it available for others.

“Because I care so deeply about the artistic process, I scrutinize, have perfectionist tendencies, and want space made for spontaneity, which is not an easy process, with the many moving parts on the road.”

Hill's "energy alignment" comment has generated a lot of ridicule:

The crowd also showed their displeasure when the concert ended.
