ATLANTA, GA — A man has pleaded guilty to shooting and then robbing a Georgia Tech professor in May 2012.
Antonio Ingram, 23, was convicted of armed robbery, armed battery, aggravated assault and other charges on Tuesday.
On May 8, 2012, police responded to a person shot call at the Texaco Gas Station on Campbellton and Fairburn roads. Dr. Augustine Esogbue had suffered a gunshot wound to his shoulder during the armed robbery. Esogbue told police he was driving down Fairburn Road, when Ingram walked into the middle of the street, pulled out a gun and immediately opened fire. Esogbue stopped his car and Ingram then reached into the vehicle and stole a bag with a large amount of cash and personal items.

Ingram was arrested and later identified by Esogbue as the assailant. Police recovered a gun in the area of the shooting that matched the shell casings at the crime scene. DNA taken from the handgun also matched the defendant.
Ingram was sentenced to 15 years followed by five years of probation.
