Man Killed by MARTA Train Wednesday Morning Identified
The 55-year-old man was homeless, but authorities have located his family and notified them of his death.

Authorities have released the identity of the man who was struck and killed by a MARTA train at the Georgia State station on Wednesday morning, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
55-year-old Mahendra Kumar Ghelabhai Patel was homeless at the time of his death, the AJC reports, but adds that authorities were able to locate his family and inform them of Patel’s death.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, MARTA authorities told the station. Investigators say that Patel entered an area of the station that is usually sealed off by fences.

Georgia State station was closed for five hours while investigators combed the station, the AJC says. MARTA provided shuttle buses to transport commuters to and from Five Points, King Memorial, and Georgia State stations.
