Man Pleads Guilty to 2013 Underground Atlanta Killing: News Nearby

The 27-year-old was sentenced to 30 years in prison following his guilty plea.

The person who shot and killed a man at Underground Atlanta following a dispute has pleaded guilty to the crime and received a lengthy prison sentence.

According to WSB-TV, 27-year-old Brandon Barnes pleaded guilty to killing Mychal Fair in August of 2013 after prosecutors say Fair broke up a confrontation between his friends and another group at the downtown shopping mall. After the two groups dispersed, Barnes returned to the scene and fatally shot Fair, who was at Underground buying a uniform for his new job.

Barnes pleaded guilty to charges of voluntary manslaughter, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony and was sentenced to 30 years in prison and 5 years on probation by a Fulton County judge.
