Man Shot, Killed by Security Guard at Atlantic Station

An unidentified man was shot and killed by an on-duty security guard at Atlantic Station following a confrontation and physical struggle between the two, WSB-TV reports.

The station reports that the security guard discovered the man acting suspiciously in a parking deck attached to The Village, in the 300 block of 17th Street. Police told WSB-TV that the guard and the other man had an altercation which ended with the guard shooting and killing the suspicious man.

Atlanta police released a statement which reports that the security guard admitted to killing the man, who has yet to be identified. His body was recovered by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office at approximately 4 a.m., WSB-TV says.

Homicide detectives are investigating the incident.
