Midtown Assistance Center Honors Chandler for 20 Years of Leadership

Dorothy Chandler (second from right) has served Midtown Atlanta's working poor through the nonprofit Midtown Assistance Center since 1994.

Members of the Board of Directors of the Midtown Assistance Center (MAC) recently recognized and honored Dorothy Chandler for her 20 years of leadership with the organization.  Ms. Chandler came on board as MAC’s assistant Director in 1994 before stepping into the director’s position in 1997.  She now serves as Executive Director.

The Midtown Assistance Center, a nonprofit organization, provides emergency financial assistance to the working poor of Midtown Atlanta to forestall homelessness and poverty during periods of personal crisis.  In 2014, Ms. Chandler completes 20 years of leadership and service to MAC.

The MAC Board of Directors recently held an anniversary celebration at the home of Tom and Charlotte Shields in Lenox Park.  Board President Bernadette Kennedy presented Ms. handler with a plaque to commemorate the occasion.

The Midtown Assistance Center, Inc. is located at 30 Porter Place, just off Peachtree Street in facilities provided by Atlanta First Methodist Church.  MAC is a collaborative effort of ten Peachtree corridor congregations.  In addition, MAC receives private and public funding.  For information, visit www.midtownassistancectr.org
