MIDTOWN ASSISTANCE CENTER NAMES OFFICERS FOR 2015

MAC celebrated 28 years of service during which it has provided $7 million of assistance to the working poor of Midtown

At the annual meeting recently, the Midtown Assistance Center (www.midtownassistancectr.org) celebrated 28 years of service during which time it has provided $7 million of assistance to the working poor of Midtown.

MAC installed the following officers for 2015: President – Casey Lawing, Finance Manager, Coca-Cola Company; Vice President – Alex Brown, Sr. Associate, Alston & Bird; Secretary – Erica Wright, Systems Evolution, Inc., Consultant; and Treasurer – Allen Buckley, law office of Allen Buckley, LLC, Attorney/CPA.

Former Midtown Assistance Center Board President Kip Buss presented the 2014 Corporate Partner of the Year award to Consolidated Planning Corporation. Betsy Silber, Vice President of Operations, and Bob Bordett, Sr. Vice President accepted the award for the firm.

Dorothy D. Chandler, of Ansley Park, continues as Executive Director of the Midtown Assistance Center. Beginning as Assistant Director in 1994, she stepped into the director’s position in 1997 and this year marks 21 years of service to MAC. The Midtown Assistance Center is housed at Atlanta First United Methodist Church.

The Midtown Assistance Center, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency financial assistance to the working poor of Midtown Atlanta to forestall homelessness and poverty during periods of personal crisis. Located at 30 Porter Place, just off Peachtree Street in facilities provided by Atlanta First United Methodist Church, MAC is a collaborative effort of ten Peachtree corridor congregations. In addition, MAC receives private and public funding
