Midtown Beating Death: Police Release Video

Atlanta Police Department investigators want to talk to two men, believed to be homeless, shown in the video.

ATLANTA, GA — Police in Atlanta have released a video of two men they're calling persons of interest in a man's beating death in Midtown near the Fox Theatre.

Police said Friday that the two en are known to frequent the Midtown area and may be homeless. Atlanta Police Department spokeswoman Officer Stephanie Brown said no arrest warrants have been issued in the case.

The body of a man who appeared to have been beaten to death was found early Wednesday morning on a sidewalk in the 800 block of Peachtree, between 5th and 6th streets, Atlanta Police said. The location is near the Sprint store at 805 Peachtree St. NE.

Officers were patrolling the area around 1:50 a.m. when someone flagged them down and said a man suffering a head injury needed help. When they arrived, 59-year-old Moses Cooper was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Cooper, who they believe was homeless as well, appears to have been attacked while he was asleep.
