Midtown Pharmacy Seeks Alcohol Sales Permit
The CVS on Peachtree Street wants to sell retail package beer and wine weeks after it stopped selling tobacco products.

A CVS Pharmacy in Midtown will appear before Neighborhood Planning Unit (NPU) E in January to ask for a license to sell alcohol beverages on the premises.
According to the application on file with the City of Atlanta, the CVS at 842 Peachtree St. NE plans on selling retail package beer and wine should it receive permission to do so. CVS management reports on its application that it will provide corporate alcohol sales training to all employees to ensure compliance with the alcohol code. In addition, store managers will be on site 45 hours a week.
Ironically, CVS declared earlier this year that it was no longer selling any tobacco related products at any store locations as of Oct. 1. At the time of the initial annoucement, CVS Caremark CEO Larry Merlo said, ”Cigarettes and tobacco products have no place in a setting where health care is delivered. This is the right thing to do.”
