Midtown Red Cross Office Holds Blood Drive Wednesday
Donors can walk in to donate or schedule an appointment time in advance.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at its Midtown Atlanta office on Wednesday, Oct. 1 from noon to 7 p.m., the organization reports on its website.
Technicians will be performing double red cell donations, which draws two units of red blood cells from the donor’s arm, but returns the donor’s plasma and platelets through the use of a special machine.
Alternately, donors can request to donate only platelets and retain their plasma and red blood cells. This process is called apheresis and will also be offered during Wednesday’s blood drive.

Alternately, other blood drives accepting regular blood cell donations will be held at sites across the city on Wednesday. Two such events will be held at Georgia Tech and at Daymark on Clairmont Road. To book appointment times for these blood drives, please visit the American Red Cross’ website.
