Midtown Residents Plan to Oppose Council Redistricting Proposal

Public hearing set for Tuesday

Rally to keep in Midtown's City Council district.

A public hearing will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 11:15 a.m. in committee room 2 at Atlanta City Hall.

A current proposal has Grady redrawn into Council District 6. But many want to keep Grady in Council District 2.

"We need your support!" Midtown resident Dana Persons said in an email. "We have worked out possible solutions with the goal of returning Grady HS to Midtown’s voting district, and to work to unite Midtown under one voting district."

Dist. 6 Atlanta City Councilman Alex Wan said in an email redistricting maps could be finalized at Tuesday's meeting.

"At this meeting there will be a public hearing where citizens will have the opportunity to share your opinions before the map is approved," Wan said. "If you want your voice to be heard on which Council district Grady High School will be placed, please email Council members or attend the public hearing."
