Mike Pence Makes Atlanta Campaign Stop Monday Night

Donald Trump's running mate begins his Georgia tour in Perry earlier in the day and ends it in Dalton on Tuesday.

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence begins a two-day swing through Georgia that includes a fundraiser in Atlanta and then an event Monday night at the Cobb Galleria.

According to Donald Trump's campaign website, Pence will be appearing at 2 pm in Perry at the National Fairgrounds and Agricenter, then traveling to Atlanta for a 7:30 rally at the Cobb Galleria. Pence wraps up his Georgia tour in Dalton on Tuesday morning.

The AJC is reporting that Pence is also set to appear at an Atlanta fundraiser at 6 pm Monday night, prior to his appearance at the Galleria. The fundraiser costs 250 to attend. Bernie Marcus is reportedly one of the co-chairs of the event.

Marcus was also an organizer of a fundraiser for Trump himself earlier this year.

After decades as a reliably red state, Georgia may truly be a battleground come November.

A recent poll from WSB-TV shows Hillary Clinton and Trump in a statistical tie for the presidency among Peach State voters. Trump holds a narrow edge over Clinton, the Democrat, in the poll -- 45.5 percent to 44.2 percent. Libertarian Gary Johnson took just over 5 percent of support in the poll and Green Party nominee Jill Stein came in with 2.5 percent.
