Music Midtown, Atlanta Arts Fest Settle Scheduling Conflict

The two organizations had asked for permission to use Piedmont Park during the same weekend.

While we’re all freezing our hinders off in this unforgiving winter, we may let our minds wander to warmer, brighter days ahead. Outdoor grilling, baseball games, and Music Midtown are just around the corner, honestly.

And this year’s Music Midtown will be held on the same weekend as it usually is, despite a scheduling conflict with another popular Piedmont Park event.

According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, both Music Midtown and the Atlanta Arts Festival wanted to use the park on the weekend of Sept. 19. As it turns out, the arts festival had applied for a permit months before the music festival, which usually would mean the arts festival would get the dates.

The art festival, which is a nonprofit event, worried that having to cede the weekend to the much-larger music festival would have crippled their 2015 plans. However, the organizers of both events met with the city to hammer out a deal which would be acceptable to all parties.

Music Midtown will get the Sept. 19 weekend, while the Atlanta Arts Festival will have Piedmont Park the following weekend, the Chronicle reports.
