Nearby: Police Equipment Stolen from Personal Vehicle Near Clark Atlanta University

Among the items stolen were a police uniform and firearms.

Some Atlanta residents and college students will have to be extra wary of police in their area after thieves stole a police uniform and other police equipment from an officer’s personal vehicle parked near Clark Atlanta University on Tuesday night.

According to WSB-TV, a thief or thieves managed to break into the vehicle, which was used by two police officers. One police handgun was stolen from under the passenger seat, while another was taken from the back of the car. Crooks also took additional weapons and a complete police uniform from the back of the car.

Clark Atlanta University is advising students who encounter a supposed campus police officer to ask the officer to present his or her identification. Although the thieves got the uniform, they did not steal the officer’s department-issued identification card.
