New Atlanta Charity Preserves Memories for Grieving Families

'Love Not Lost' helps provide free portrait sessions and photo books to those facing a terminal diagnosis.

An Atlanta woman has made it her mission to share a lasting gift to families facing the terminal illness of a child. Seven years ago Ashley Jones faced this very reality herself when she and her husband were told their two-month old daughter, Skylar had Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Before their daughter's passing, their close friends hired a professional photographer to capture moments of Skylar's life--moments that would later provide much comfort and joy in her absence.

As a result of her own experience, Ashley resolved to pay it forward and started offering free portrait sessions to anyone she met with a terminal diagnosis. As she donated more and more sessions, she realized something greater was taking shape. Today, that vision is being carried out through Love Not Lost. The foundation's purpose is to provide free portrait sessions and photo books to those facing a terminal diagnosis.

Recently Love Not Lost hosted an official launch party and silent auction fundraiser at Trinity Surfaces Design Gallery in Atlanta. At the event, attendees met families already served and they heard stories about families who have applied and are waiting for Love Not Lost to photograph them.

“Having people come together to celebrate the launch of Love Not Lost and was incredible. We are so grateful for the outpouring of support. There aren’t words to express watching one of your dreams come to life. It’s not something I can do alone and am truly grateful for all of the support,” shares founder Ashley Jones.
