New Donald Trump Campaign Logo is "Shockingly Bad"

An Atlanta branding expert bets Friday's newly unveiled Trump campaign logo will be changed ... and soon.

Atlanta, GA -- Donald Trump's presidential campaign unveiled a new logo on Friday when the presumptive GOP nominee announced that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence will be his running mate.

The logo was immediately savaged on social media, and for good reason, said Atlanta-based branding expert Mark Speece.

"It's bad ... shockingly bad," said Speece, a 20-year veteran of business-to-consumer and business-to-business branding. "It's bad in a way that perfectly aligns Trump with the heat and negativity that the candidate himself has been taking.

"It actually looks like a spoof that someone who dislikes Trump would develop."

The logo features a prominent "T' and "P" as part of a flag illustration. Trump's and Pence's names are stacked above the slogan, "Make America Great Again."

"The logo's P' looks like a toilet flushing the T,'" Speece said, "which Trump detractors will call that a metaphor for what he’ll do to the country. But the worst part is that the 'P' looks like it's being penetrated by the 'T' which, to put it diplomatically, is a rather intimate connection.

"This is a situation that warranted focus groups and strategy sessions," Speece said. "Very few brands are drug through the mud than a presidential campaign's. What's really shocking is that no one in the campaign pointed any of these problems out, because it only took a matter of minutes once it was released for the Internet to blow up."

Here's just a sampling of what was being said on Friday afternoon:

Speece thinks the campaign will redesign its logo quickly, unless the candidate himself prevents that from happening.

"Trump doesn't respond well to advice from the outside," Speece said. "The good thing and bad thing about Trump is that he makes so many missteps that the press moves quickly from one to another. And the Trump brand never seems to be damaged."
