NFL Player, Midtown Resident Arrested in Gwinnett County

Police say he was going 99 mph in a 65 mph zone and smelt of alcohol.

Chicago Bears football player and Midtown resident Tim Jennings was arrested and charged with DUI, speeding and reckless driving after a Wednesday afternoon traffic stop in Gwinnett County.

Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said Jennings was stopped at 11:54 a.m. on northbound I-85 near Pleasant Hill Road. He was clocked going 99 mph in a 65 mph zone in his 2015 Mercedes Benz S63 AMG, Smith said.

“Upon approaching the driver, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverages and began a DUI investigation,” Smith said. “Ultimately, Jennings was charged with speeding, DUI, and reckless driving.”

Jennings, who is listed with an address on 10th Street according to jail records, was released after posting bail of $2,711.

A cornerback, he is a former University of Georgia player, and played high school football in Orangeburg, S.C.

Jennings just completed his first year of a four-year contract with the Bears, according to the Chicago Tribune.
