Orlando Shooting: In One Voice, Atlanta Sings 'The Star Spangled Banner'

Hundreds attended a vigil Sunday night in Atlanta in the wake of the nation's deadliest mass shooting in history.

ATLANTA, GA -- Hundreds of people rallied in Atlanta on Sunday night as a show of unity in the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

The vigil was held in Midtown Atlanta outside TEN Atlanta on Piedmont Road.

The shooting early Sunday morning at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando left 50 people dead and 53 people hospitalized.

The vigil began with those in attendance singing "The Star Spangled Banner."

TEN Atlanta's parking lot on Piedmont Avenue was where a mass celebration was held June 26, 2015, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage was a constitutional right.

Another vigil was held outside Burkharts Pub Sunday evening. More than 100 people attended the event, which was organized by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, according to the AJC.

Meanwhile, police say they are increasing patrols around popular gay Atlanta nightspots, but no credible threats are being investigated.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed has ordered that all city flags be flown at half-mast in honor of the victims.
