Our Revels Now Are Ended: Georgia Shakespeare Company Exits the Stage Permanently
The Atlanta-based theatre company could no longer operate in its financial situation.

So good night unto you all.
Give me your hands if we be friends,
And Robin shall restore amends.
After nearly 30 years on the Atlanta theatre scene, the Georgia Shakespeare Company has permanently suspended operations due to ongoing financial difficulties.
Last month, the company announced that it was cancelling its Oct. 1 production of Henry V because the company had no free capital to spend on anything other than debt payments.

On Wednesday, the company announced that its upcoming performance of Holiday Panto was also being cancelled, but added that all staff were being dismissed indefinitely. According to Creative Loafing, the chairman of the Georgia Shakespeare Board Daniel Norris said that the company was not able to secure enough capital to continue operating, and will be disbanded.
“We believe this is a huge loss for Atlanta, given the critical role Georgia Shakespeare has played in the city’s cultural ecosystem,” said Norris in a statement. “We would encourage all Atlantans to fight vigilantly to support their favorite local professional theatres and arts organizations.”
