According to Georgia Power’s outage map, the two areas with outages were the intersection of 8th Street and Penn Avenue and the intersection of 7th Street and Mentelle Drive. The power outage at 8th and Penn was caused by a fallen tree at 8th and Myrtle streets on Sunday afternoon. The fallen tree took out power for 352 customers.

The outage at 7th Street and Mentelle Drive was intentionally caused by Georgia Power crews working to restore power near the 8th and Myrtle area, spokesman John Kraft told Patch. Kraft said that the power was taken offline so that workers could safely cut lines and separate circuits in an effort to restore power to the first area. The temporary outage knocked out power for approximately 728 customers.
