Overnight Crash in Midtown Leaves One Dead
One vehicle sideswiped another near Ponce City Market. The driver sped away and crashed into a utility pole, where his car caught on fire.

ATLANTA, GA -- One person is dead after an overnight crash in Midtown near Ponce City Market.
Police say the crash happened around 12:30 am on Thursday morning at the intersection of Ponce de Leon Avenue and Ponce de Leon Place, in front of the local Kroger.
It appears that one vehicle sideswiped another, according to WTVM. One vehicle was destroyed by flames.

Police tell Channel 2 Action News that a 2008 Honda struck another vehicle and then fled the scene. The driver then lost control of his vehicle on a curve and struck a utility pole. The vehicle then caught fire with the driver, who likely died on impact, trapped inside.
