Piedmont Road To Close At I-85 For Bridge Rebuild Project

The 24-hour closure is needed to allow Georgia DOT contractors to set beams for the I-85 bridge rebuilding project.

ATLANTA, GA -- A portion of Piedmont Road will close Tuesday morning to allow contractors with the Georgia Department of Transportation to set beams for the Interstate 85 rebuild project.

The road will close at its intersection with I-85 from 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 25 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, the agency said.

"This stage of the project represents yet another critical milestone in Georgia DOT’s stated goal of reopening I-85 on or before June 15," it added.

Motorists who regularly use Piedmont Road near I-85 are advised to plan ahead to avoid this route during the specified hours.
