Pop-up Restaurant Space Available in Atlantic Station
Local chef and restaurateurs have opportunity to test new concepts in the space formerly occupied by The Grape.
As Yard House readies to open on April 22, followed by Meehan’s Public House and BGR: The Burger Joint in June, Atlantic Station is offering the opportunity for a pop-up restaurant to add even more flavor to the current lineup of restaurants this summer.
The selected pop-up will occupy the 2,500-square-foot space at the corner of 19th Street and West District Street, formerly occupied by The Grape. The pop-up space, which offers patio dining, a full kitchen, seating and tabletop place settings can provide a temporary home to a novel concept that may not have the resources to invest in a permanent home —a restaurant incubator of sorts.

The Atlanta Tennis Championships, scheduled for July 14-22, are expected to bring more than 50,000 people to Atlantic Station. “We are working to bring Midtowners what they have asked for — more unique local restaurants,” said Liz Gillespie, director of marketing for Atlantic Station, in a release. “This could become a permanent food option or simply a one-month opportunity to capitalize on the significant daily flow of guests planned for the Atlanta Tennis Championships.”
Atlantic Station already has a following among the pop-up foodie crowd. Last Friday, the property resumed Food Truck Fridays with different trucks each week during lunchtime, as well as live music. And each Sunday, The Atlanta Nosh brings more than 100 vendors to Atlantic Station to sell food from every corner of the earth. Atlantic Station has also hosted the Underground Food Market and a pop-up picnic.

Gillespie expects to get several interesting applications, and looks forward to adding another dining option for the summer.
“For chefs, pop-ups are a way to test new concepts, let off some creative steam, expand their brands to new neighborhoods and otherwise take risks without the hefty up-front investment required for a traditional restaurant,” said Gillespie. “For guests, pop-ups mean access to high-end food at more affordable prices as well as the thrill of taking part in something fleeting.”
Atlantic Station invites interested chefs and restaurateurs to visit Bit.ly/AtlanticStationPopUp to submit an application for consideration. Application deadline is April 23, 2012.
