Registration Extended for Child Abuse Prevention Conference

The World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse conference takes place Nov. 19 in Macon.

Atlanta -- Children’s Advocacy Center’s of Georgia (CACGA) has extended the registration deadline for its annual World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse conference, which will be held on Nov. 19.

Registration will now end on Nov. 11. The cost for the conference is $75.00 for the general public and $35.00 for students. Register via CACGA’s website: www.cacga.org.

The keynote speaker for the day’s conference is Antwone Fisher, an award-winning film and literary writer. Born in an Ohio prison to a teenage mother, Fisher became a ward of the state and was placed in foster care.

He spent two years in a loving foster home, but was subsequently moved and suffered twelve years of abuse at the hands of his new foster family. Following emancipation from foster care -- and a stint of homelessness, Fisher set on a new course when he joined the U.S. Navy.
