Rocio Rivera of LexisNexis Receives PRSA Georgia's September Chapter Champion Award

Public Relations Awards

ATLANTA – September 21, 2015 – Rocio Rivera, APR is the recipient of the September 2015 Chapter Champion Award from the Georgia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (prsageorgia.org). This award recognizes Rivera’s dedicated volunteer work for the chapter.

Rivera has been a member of the Chapter’s Social Media Committee for the past three years. In addition, she is serving on the PRSA International Conference Host Committee’s PR & Marketing team, assisting with social media outreach. Previously, she was part of the Membership Committee, and she serves as an APR panelist for those seeking their accreditation.

“I decided to become involved with the PRSA Georgia Chapter as soon as I moved to Atlanta,” Rivera said. “Thanks to Chapter members, I found my first job in the city, and I have continued to developed great relationships with other colleagues. For me, network creation and continued education are really the highlights of being a member of the PRSA. Our Chapter has the best of both.”

A 20-year public relations and marketing professional, Rivera currently works for LexisNexis Risk Solutions as Marketing Manager for Latin America, managing and executing marketing communications plans for the more than 15 countries in that region. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications with a minor in Marketing from Loyola University, New Orleans, and she just finished her Master’s Degree in Media and Marketing Law from Emory University Law School. She was accredited in public relations in 2002, making her the youngest person to earn the APR in Puerto Rico at that time.

Because of this type of volunteerism, the Georgia Chapter ranks as the second-largest PRSA chapter in the nation and has been recognized for its best membership practices among PRSA chapters across the country.
