Indiana National Guard 'Aware' Of Soldier In Wrigley Field Brawl

The Indiana National Guard is investigating a soldier's possible involvement in a fight in Wrigley Field's bleachers Monday night.

CHICAGO, IL — Baseball fans sitting in the Wrigley Field bleachers Monday night had even more to deal with after the Cubs lost 5-1 to the Pittsburgh Pirates, due to a racially-fueled fight that broke out after the game involving several people, including the possible involvement of a soldier in the Indiana National Guard member.

According to WGN and videos posted on Twitter by @SonRanto, several people in the bleachers were yelling as bystanders tried separating two men from the group during the team's Hispanic Heritage Day at Wrigley. Once the fight calmed down, a man can be heard yelling a racial slur aimed at Hispanic people, prompting more fighting as security attempted to intervene.

The Indiana National Guard hasn't identified anyone in the video, but did release a statement Wednesday:

A second Twitter video was posted after midnight shows more footage of a man shouting racial slurs at another man, then ordering the person recording the video to stop filming.

Wrigley security staff was still in the mix, and can also be heard telling the recorder to filming, saying they're not allowed to record video on private property.

Chicago police told WGN they received a complaint about the bleacher fight, adding that Wrigley Field security and detectives interviewed the people involved. Police said those involved are cooperating and no charges have been filed, WGN said.

The Cubs issued a statement following the incident:

"All parties involved in the altercation were escorted out the ballpark and interviewed by police and security. There was no conclusion as to what started or who instigated the fight last night. No charges were filed and no arrests were made. We have a zero tolerance against fighting so the individuals involved will be barred from Wrigley Field for the remainder of 2018."
