Scrap Your Scale Charity Event - Liberate Dependency of Using Scales as a Mood Indicator

Atlanta Center for Eating Disorders (ACE) in partnership with the Eating Disorders Information Network (EDIN) will be sponsoring an Atlanta event, Scrap Your Scale! on Saturday, May 10, 3-5 p.m. at Gotta Dance Fitness Studio.
 
“Many people suffer by over utilizing their scales and having them dictate their mood. Attendees are invited to bring their scale, creatively decorate and destroy them together,” said Linda Buchanan, PhD and co-founder of ACE. 

Leighton Jordan, Miss Georgia 2012, will be in attendance and participating in the demolition. Scraps will be used to make a sculpture to memorialize the freedom experienced by being “sans scale.” Corporate sponsors will also contribute money for each destroyed scale, with donations going to Feeding America, a charity that helps fight hunger in the U.S.
