Seven Good Reasons to Register Your Pet with Fulton County!

Are your pets registered with Fulton County? If you haven’t done so already, it’s never too late to register them. Wondering why you should register them? Here are seven good reasons:

1. It’s the law. The Fulton County animal ordinance requires all pet owners in Fulton County to license their dogs and cats. Pet owners who do not comply may receive a citation.

2. If your pet gets lost, you’re more likely to find them. A license tag increases the chances you’ll find your pet, since shelters, veterinarians and citizens can use the tag to quickly obtain contact information online and call you.

3. It’s proof of legal ownership. If someone finds your pet, your registration serves as legal proof that the pet is yours.

4. People are more likely to help a licensed pet. Licensing lets people know that a pet is up to date on vaccinations, doesn’t have rabies and has an owner, so your pet is more likely to receive help if lost.

5. You’ll be helping shelter pets. Licensing fees support the efforts of DeKalb County Animal Services, so you’ll be helping us care for shelter pets.

6. You’ll save money and time. Registering your pet costs much less than paying the citation, and you won’t have to take time off work to go to court.

7. You’ll be Helping Your Community. When pets are registered, fewer pets end up at the shelter, so less taxpayer money is spent caring for lost pets. Further, public health is protected when more pets receive rabies vaccinations.

Registration is affordable and easy! The cost is $10 for one year for spayed or neutered animals, and $25 for one year for animals who aren't spayed or neutered (a $10 late fee will be charged if your pet is more than 60 days overdue).

All you need is a copy of your current rabies vaccination certificate from your veterinarian and, if you’re registering for the lower rate, proof of spay/neuter (this can be a statement from your vet or a copy of the spay/neuter invoice). LifeLine Animal Project’s Fulton County Pets of the Week: Navi and Sicily

We can’t wait for you to meet our terrific Pets of the Week! Our first pet is Navi, a playful boy who is almost one year old. Navi is an adorable tall and lanky puppy who will be stunning once he grows into his body and fills out. This silly boy has a goofy side, and he can always make us laugh. Navi loves to play with toys and other dogs. He also loves experiencing new things and will make an awesome family pet! And if you adopt Navi during November, his adoption fee will be half price, including his neuter, vaccines and microchip!

Our next pet is Sicily, a beautiful two-month-old kitten. This baby girl is very active and loves to play with toys and run around. After she plays, Sicily enjoys curling up on a good human lap and falling asleep. Come in and make this baby your own!
