Should Grady High School Be Renamed?

The school's newspaper thinks so. Take our Patch poll and tell us what you think.

ATLANTA, GA -- Grady High School is named after a racist, according to the school newspaper’s editorial board.

The board is calling on the Atlanta Public School system to rename the school, christened in honor of legendary Atlanta journalist Henry W. Grady, according to the AJC. Grady was also an editor and part owner of the old Atlanta Constitution.

The board says the school should not “have a name that fails to represent that heterogeneity. More than that, we should not have a name that is counter to the goals of any productive and welcoming school — one that fails to celebrate many cultures and embrace the uniqueness of Atlanta.”
