StapleHouse, Bread & Butterfly Named Among Bon Appétit's Best New Restaurants

ATLANTA, GA — Staplehouse and Bread & Butterfly have made Bon Appétit's list of the 50 best new restaurants in the U.S.

The publication will narrow down the list to 10 on August 16.

Here's what Bon Appétit had to say about Staplehouse, located on Edgewood Avenue near the King Center:

"This freestanding brick building is home to a truly family-run restaurant. In the kitchen is Ryan Smith, who, prior to Staplehouse, played his part in the nationwide pimiento-cheese resurgence as the executive chef of Hugh Acheson’s Empire State South ... Smith introduces Dixie staples like collards and benne seeds to new friends like vadouvan and furikake ... Staplehouse marks the next step in modern Southern cooking, and Smith is leading the pack as the movement’s brightest practitioner."

"Billy Allin, owner of Decatur’s much-loved Cakes & Ale (a past Hot 10 winner), transports diners to Paris via Atlanta’s trendy Inman Park neighborhood. The small, airy space is picture-perfect: jade-tiled walls, stamped metal ceiling, and handsome leather-upholstered bar stools. You’ll find an omelet du jour—impossibly soft, butter-slicked, topped with grated Parm and minced herbs—that would make Jacques Pépin weep with joy, plus textbook steak tartare, chicken-liver toast, and roast chicken. ... You could park yourself at a bistro table on the porch in the morning with your laptop and a Counter Culture cortado and not leave until you’ve finished lunch, dinner, dessert—and just one more glass of Loire Chenin Blanc."
