Start your imaginary engines...Red Bull Soapbox is here!
Crazy costumes and kooky human-powered racing machines descend upon Midtown Saturday
The hype and buzz have been revving up for weeks, and now the Red Bull Soapbox Race is here with 37 wacky, non-motorized vehicles ready to roll – and possibly crash – down 10th Street in front of Piedmont Park on Saturday.
The pits are scheduled to open at 10 a.m. with racing action set to begin shortly after high noon. It’s all free for spectators and for more event information, click here.
The teams, representing eight states, will be racing against the clock. But showmanship and creativity, including a starting line, pre-race choreographed dance, will factor into the judging process, too. The soapboxes must weigh 176 pounds or less and be no more than 6 feet wide, 12 feet long and 7 feet high.

Also note that the city of Atlanta is seeking input from area residents concerning the soapbox race, as well as other Piedmont Park festivals and events. Document any impact these events might have on where you live, and send notes, pictures and comment to traffic@midtownatlanta.org.
Documented feedback and data from members of the Midtown, Ansley, Morningside, and Virginia Highland communities is needed in the following areas:
- Traffic flow: minimum impact, ok, bad, a big problem  (photo/written documentation with time & location)
- Parking: minimum impact, ok, bad, a big problem  (photo/written documentation with time & location)
