Statement from Mayor Kasim Reed on the 13th Anniversary of September 11
The Atlanta mayor reflected on the events which happened in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001.

From the City of Atlanta
On this day, we mark the solemn anniversary of the terror attacks that claimed the lives of thousands of Americans and changed our nation forever. As Mayor of Atlanta, I stand with all Atlantans, Georgians and Americans as we pause to honor and remember the victims, to grieve with the families and friends of those we lost, and to honor the heroes of that day and each day since who have sacrificed to save lives and serve our country.
Despite the unimaginable tragedy of September 11, 2001, this day is also an opportunity to serve others and give back to our communities, to respect our differences and value what we share. Our country will continue to face challenges. But on days like today we’re reminded that the best way to confront our difficulties is together, united in our values of freedom, tolerance, and equality.
