ATLANTA (September 13, 2018) - To kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta is once again presenting its GET UP Fitness Challenge, an initiative that encourages Atlantans to get active while also raising money and awareness for breast cancer.

The involvement of the local Atlanta community will also help support the Susan G. Komen “Bold Goal” of cutting breast cancer deaths in half by 2026.

“The GET UP Fitness Challenge is great way to fit exercise into the busy lives of our supporters while contributing to Susan G. Komen’s ‘Bold Goal’ to reduce the number of breast cancer deaths in half by 2026,” said Cati Diamond Stone, executive director, Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta. “Research indicates that regular exercise can lower breast cancer risk by 10 to 20 percent, so being active is important in the fight against breast cancer.”
