UPDATE: Fulton County Courthouse Suspicious Package Threat Cleared

Several streets were closed while authorities investigated the scene.

UPDATE (2:35 p.m.): Fulton County has confirmed that the all-clear signal has been given at the Fulton County Courthouse, and the courthouse’s Pryor Street entrance has been re-opened. A suspicious package had been reported outside the courthouse on Thursday afternoon.

ORIGINAL STORY (2:20 p.m.): The Fulton County Courthouse and several streets around the area have been closed off due to a report of a suspicious package outside the building.

According to the Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency, a suspicious package was discovered at the courthouse on Pryor Street. Authorities have blocked Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive to Peachtree Street, and Central Avenue and Pryor Street from Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive to Trinity Avenue.

WSB-TV reports that no evacuation order has yet been issued for the courthouse. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office’s bomb squad is on the scene with MARTA Police’s bomb squad. Atlanta police and the Georgia State Patrol are working on street closures.
