A student at a local university will have an interesting and incredibly valid excuse as to why their homework wasn’t turned in on time.

According to WSB-TV, the device taped to the 14th Street Bridge that caused a bomb scare which snarled traffic for hours on Monday was part of a Georgia State University student art project. The device was a slow-motion camera inserted into a tube, and was meant to record until spring.

Unfortunately, someone saw the camera and thought it was a bomb.

Taking no chances, authorities shut down the Downtown Connector in the vicinity of the bridge, as well as a chunk of 14th Street itself. The bomb squad finally destroyed the device just before rush hour, but it took more time to clear the congestion caused by the incident.
