Teen Sentenced to Life in Prison in Midtown Home Invasion
Brandon Smith was sentenced on Wednesday for his role in a northwest Atlanta break-in last year.

ATLANTA, GA -- A teenager who participated in a Midtown home invasion last fall was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Wednesday.
Brandon Smith, 18, admitted he was high on cocaine when he and three other men robbed Mike and Whitney Lash in August 2015, and then shot Mike Lash in the legs while his wife ran to protect their 6-month-old baby.
The family had just returned to the Sumter Street home from vacation when police say Smith and the others knocked on their door and asked for a car jack, according to WSB-TV. They then broke into the home and terrorized the family.
