Therrell Shooting: 1 Victim Critical; Shooter Denied Bond

While a judge denied bond on Wednesday for a teenager accused of shooting five people near Therrell High School on Tuesday, one of the alleged shooter’s victims is now listed in critical condition.

Jail records show that Marcellus Brooks was out on bond for robbery when he shot five people, including four students, in southwest Atlanta. The shooting did not occur on school property, but did take place in a school zone in the nearby area of Panther Trail and Childress Drive.

The five people shot were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition, and one was shortly thereafter treated and released. Another is expected to be released sometime Wednesday, while two others are expected to remain at Grady at least until Thursday. The fifth is now in critical condition according to a hospital representative.

WSB TV has identified the wounded as Lamarcritus Wilson, 20, Domonic Clark, 17, Trevion Morgan, 18, Tekevious Redding, 17, and Morgan Evans, 15.

Brooks, who also is a student at Therrell, was arrested in April by MARTA police in connection with a March 29 incident. According to jail records, he was released on an $8,000 bond after spending 15 days in jail.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the 17-year-old Brooks pleaded not guilty this month to a felony robbery charge and was awaiting an August trial when he was arrested on Tuesday. Police have charged Brooks, who is being held at the Fulton County jail, with five counts of aggravated assault.

Brooks was ordered held without bond at his first court appearance on Wednesday morning, with his next court appearance set for May 28.
