Tractor Trailer Driver Who Caused Wreck on Atlanta Interstate Charged
The big rig had no business in the city and should not have been driving through Midtown when the wreck occurred, according to authorities.

The driver of a tractor trailer which caused an accident and subsequent traffic nightmare on Interstate 75/85 in Midtown on Wednesday afternoon has been charged for starting the accident, the Department of Public Safety said.
According to DPS spokesperson Franka Young, a bobtail tractor trailer (a truck not carrying any cargo) driven by 72-year-old Donald Ziegler of Missouri rear-ended a Mercedes driven by Duluth resident Li Wang on Interstate 75/85 at 10th Street around 2:30 p.m.
Young said that Wang’s Mercedes was carried by the force of the collision into a Nissan Rogue driven by Nakisa Mansoori of Kennesaw, while Zeigler lost control of the tractor trailer, veered left, and struck a Lexus SUV. The Lexus, driven by Robert Buckler of Atlanta, rolled over due to the impact, reported Young.

Wang and Buckler both complained of injuries, Young said, but neither were transported to a hospital.
Ziegler was charged with violating Department of Transportation restrictions on controlled access roadways and with following too closely, said Young. According to Young, Ziegler’s truck had no business inside Atlanta city limits at the time and should have been using another route.
