Truck Overturns in Midtown, Crushing Cars; Former Atlanta Mayor Involved

A former Mayor of Atlanta and UN Ambassador was involved in a crash involving an overturned cement truck in Midtown on Monday afternoon which sent another man to the hospital, according to police.

WSB-TV says that Andrew Young was involved in the accident, which occurred at Hemphill Avenue and 14th Street just before 5 p.m. Atlanta police told Patch that the truck crushed two cars and caused a small diesel spill, but nobody was entrapped due to the incident.

Police said that the driver has been cited for disobeying a traffic control device and for driving too fast for conditions.

A bystander recorded video of a man being pulled from a crushed car with head and hand injuries, WSB-TV reports. Atlanta police told Patch that this man, who was taken to the hospital, is not Andrew Young.
