Two Police Vehicles Collide in Midtown

One officer was trapped inside his car until he could be rescued.

ATLANTA, GA -- Two Atlanta police cars crashed into each other in Midtown late Thursday night while on their way to a shots-fired call.

The collision happened at the intersection of Spring Street and North Avenue.

The vehicles involved in the collision were a patrol car and an SUV, traveling in opposite directions. The AJC reports that the collision spun the SUV around damaged the car's side door. The officer inside the car was trapped until fire and rescue officials could arrive and cut his out.

The officers were on their way to the Suite Lounge on Luckie Street in downtown when the accident happened. They were heading in opposite directions.

The officer who trapped inside his car was taken to a local hospital with no serious injuries.

Police also say that when officers arrived at the Suite Lounge, they could find no evidence that anyone had been shot.
