Two Sentenced to Federal Prison For Brutal Carjacking
Frederick Todd Anderson and David Starks robbed, carjacked, and beat a College Park business owner and left him for dead in March of 2013.

Two men have been sentenced to federal prison after they were convicted on charges that they robbed, carjacked, and beat a Clayton County business owner in March of 2013.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia Atlanta Division reports that Frederick Todd Anderson, 26, of Riverdale was sentenced to 19 years, seven months in prison followed by five years’ probation. David Starks, 30, of College Park, has been sentenced to 11 years, 11 months in prison followed by three years’ probation. Starks must also pay $8,060 in restitution. Both Anderson and Starks were ordered to pay $300 in fines.
A third adult suspect, 19-year-old Deshawn Antoine Mackey, was given a five year prison sentence earlier. The State of Georgia is prosecuting two unnamed juveniles in relation to the crime.

Prosecutors allege that on March 11, 2013. Anderson, Starks, Mackey, and the juveniles jumped a man walking from his car to his office near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in College Park. The group of robbers stole the victim’s wallet, keys, and wedding ring. The juveniles were ordered to take the victim’s car, while the three adults abducted the victim.
Anderson beat the man until he surrendered his ATM PIN number. Starks and Mackey were then seen on various ATM’s surveillance cameras withdrawing money from the victim’s account.

The victim attempted to bait his abductors by telling them he had $5,000 back at his office in hopes that police had responded to the area. There were police at the scene, but the robbers saw them and drove instead to an abandoned house. Once there, the victim was pistol whipped and left for dead in the backyard. The victim crawled to the street, where a passerby spotted him and called police.
Although suffering permanent damage from the ordeal, the victim has returned to work.
“This was a terrifying and horrific crime that left the victim with lasting injuries. No one should suffer like this victim,” said United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates. “The defendants struck the victim, stole his car, and beat him to get his ATM PIN number before they finally left him for dead in a stream behind an abandoned house. The lengthy prison sentences the court imposed on Anderson and Starks today are warranted by the savagery of this crime.”
