Weather Alert: Severe Storms Possible in Midtown

The National Weather Service said two rounds of severe thunderstorms are possible.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City is calling for the possibility of severe weather in Midtown Tuesday afternoon and evening.

In a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement, the weather service said Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms are expected over much of North Georgia today and tonight, with damaging winds, large hail, dangerous lightning and heavy rain possible.

Two rounds of severe storms are possible -- this afternoon and evening, and even after midnight in some locations -- the weather service said.

The greatest chance for severe weather is roughly north of a line from Rome to Athens, which includes northern Gwinnett County, but dangerous weather is possible throughout central and north Georgia.

High temperatures will be in the low- to mid-90s in north Georgia today.
