Founded in memory of local Decatur teen and avid skateboarder, Ian Wochatz, who suffered from fatal brain cancer, all funds generated through SkaterAid are donated to the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children’s Butterfly Fund, which helps families pay the bills while they are caring for a sick child.
SkaterAid 2014 will be the organization’s tenth and final fundraising event. They hope to raise $34,000 at this year’s event, which would bring SkaterAid’s total fundraising amount to $200,000 over its 10 year run.
