Is This the Year True Loves Make the Splurge
PNC's Annual Christmas Price Index Bumps Up a Tame One Percent for 2014

Marking a 31-year holiday tradition, the tongue-in-cheek economic analysis, PNC’s Christmas Price Index is revealed courtesy of PNC Wealth Management. PNC’s CPI calculates what the prices of each gift in the popular Christmas classic, “The 12 Days of Christmas,” would cost in today’s economy.
The total index experienced a mild one percent boost since last year, coming in at $27,673.22 if one were to purchase all the gifts in the song for his or her “true love” in 2014. The slight rise in the index this year is on-par with energy costs tumbling and inflation remaining calm.
Eight of the 12 gifts remained the same price as last year, but the “Six Geese-A-Laying” went up 71.4 percent and the “Partridge” increased 33.3 percent.
Please visit our multimedia news release/digital center where you will find our news release for more context, the index itself with historic data, as well as additional assets including an infographic/b-roll for editorial use.
In addition to revealing the index itself, PNC also today embarks on a mission to bring the classic carol to a new generation via this year’s CPI website: www.PNCChristmasPriceIndex.com
This year’s site features innovative content to represent each of the 12 gifts and their prices in non-traditional ways, playing on comedy and pop culture themes while encouraging viewers to share with friends on social media.
Some of the content includes a French Hen Hair Band 80’s style music video, a charming animated short film entitled “Scaredy Swan,” an e-book “The Partridge Who Lost His Pear Tree” and of course more… nine more, to be exact.
