• Obituary and funeral service: JoAn H. McWaters, 86, of Monroe (monroelocal.org) — Monroe is mourning the passing of 86-year-old JoAn H. McWaters, who died peacefully at home on August 23 after a battle with cancer. A memorial service is set for today in Loganville, with many Monroe family members surviving her and local residents invited to honor her memory through attendance or donations to Rock Chapel Cemetery Association or the Humane Society of Walton County.
