• Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts joins Saturday's Fall Fest with some special events (monroelocal.org) — Downtown Monroe's Fall Fest on Saturday, Oct. 10 will feature local art, vendors, food, and family activities, with Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts adding special creative options. Visitors can drop in at MWCA on South Broad Street to shop handmade work and create a fall leaf trinket dish. It's designed as a casual stop during the citywide festival.
   

• Obituary and funeral service: Tim Tallant, 53, of Monroe (waltontribune.com) — A longtime Monroe resident and Walton County Sheriff's Office captain, Tim Tallant, has passed away at age 53, with services set at 1025 Church on East Spring Street in Monroe. Friends and neighbors can pay respects Thursday evening or before Friday's memorial service, as the community remembers his many years of local service and devotion to family.
