16 Displaced In Norcross Apartment Fire
Four apartments were damaged by an apartment fire in Norcross, fire officials say.

NORCROSS, GA — An accidental apartment fire led to 16 people being displaced Wednesday night in the 2600 block of Windsor Woods Lane, Gwinnett County fire officials said Thursday.
A neighbor reported heavy smoke coming from the apartment next door, and firefighters were dispatched around 10:15 p.m., according to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services.
When they arrived, fire officials said they found smoke coming from an apartment on the lower level of the two-story building.

Crews were able to safely evacuate 20 residents, fire officials said. By 10:30 p.m., the fire was under control.
Smoke alarms that were in the apartment where the fire began did not activate for an unknown reason, fire officials said.

There were no reported injuries in the blaze; however, a first-floor apartment sustained heavy fire damage, fire officials said. Additionally, smoke and water impacted three more apartments, officials added.
The American Red Cross and property management are assisting the displaced residents. The cause of the fire is unknown.
