• City of Norcross informs residents of recent ransomware incident (11alive.com) — Norcross officials are warning residents that a ransomware attack hit some city computer systems on August 1, and limited service disruptions may still occur while recovery continues. Most services are up and running, but cybersecurity experts and law enforcement are involved as the city restores remaining systems and adds new protections. Officials say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
   

• Frequent Flockers. Repeat searches prompt officer firings, arrests (usatoday.com) — Norcross Police Department is among several Georgia agencies now auditing how officers use Flock license plate readers after reporters uncovered widespread misuse in other departments nationwide. The investigation found some officers used the system to repeatedly track acquaintances' cars, prompting firings, arrests, and new safeguards that will soon become mandatory. Norcross is using Flock's newer audit tools to monitor for unusual search activity.
