• Ransomware attack targets Norcross city computer systems, officials say (fox5atlanta.com) — Norcross officials are alerting residents after a ransomware attack hit certain city computer systems on Aug. 1, with most services now restored but some disruptions still possible. Authorities haven't said whether any personal data was compromised or who's responsible, and they're still working with cybersecurity experts and law enforcement to fully secure remaining networks.
   

• 400 sign petition opposing plans to develop rural community in metro Atlanta county (wsbtv.com) — A Gwinnett County rezoning fight over rural land near the Rowen research campus has drawn about 400 petition signatures from residents worried about losing open space. One family even moved from Norcross to this area to escape dense development, and they're urging county leaders to honor the 2045 plan's promise to protect remaining rural character.
