
Am I the only one, or does anyone else feel a little guilty when you hold up the supermarket checkout line? I try not to get mad when someone else is holding up the line with their 49 coupons because I‘m really wishing I had remembered my two coupons neatly filed in my coupon carrier – in my car.
Naturally you think the line you chose is moving the slowest. I like the places that let everyone queue for the next opening.
If I stop the cashier because an item rang up incorrectly, I want him or her to correct it. The biggest delays are caused by - shudder - a non-coded item.

It turns into my problem when I select a piece of fruit that doesn’t have a code stuck to it. Do I give up the fruit for the sake of the “line” or do I make up a price higher than what I know it cost? Usually I hope that the kid who runs to find the price actually knows where to look for it and can run fast.
I feel the pressure of others groaning in line behind me, some with screaming babies. But it’s my money. And it’s my turn in line and I want to be treated special just for those few minutes. The peer pressure forces me to give up my few minutes of customer service for the sake of the errands everyone has left to do on their lists.

We've all given into this. This simple part of food purchasing can make or break customer loyalty.
I think next time I’m purchasing food, I’ll take a bag of chocolate candy with me and pass it out to all those behind me in line. Or maybe I should pass out dollar bills.
